If I am Red from the blood stained soil of our Southern land
I have White Stars, which guide our Boys through the night
I am Blue, giving tranquility to those who are frightened
I stand guard over the souls of those brave men and boys who
have
fallen under me
Look up and see me
I stand for Honor
I am confident
I am distinguished
I am proud
I bow to no one, but only to God
I
have been carried into many a firefight
I am still fighting today
I have flown from Bull Run to Gettysburg, Shiloh to Appomattox
I was there
I led my troops
I was dirty, battle-worn, shot full of holes and tired, but
my
Soldiers cheered me, died to hold me upright and proud
And I was proud
I
have been burned, torn down from state buildings in my
homeland, and hidden away by those who do not understand me
It does not hurt, for I am strong
I have been soiled upon
Accused of being racist, a war monger, a symbol of slavery
and
white supremacy and much more
This hurts me
Let it be known to all that, never has a slave been brought
to this
American soil by me.
But I shall overcome for I am strong
I
have borne silent witness to all our finest hours, our victories
and
our defeats.
But my finest hours are yet to come
When I am flown from tops of buildings, marching in a parade
held in the hand of a child who will look upon me with
understanding not hate
For
now I will fly in the sunshine of Honor for those who
understand me and will proudly take my place upon the graves
of
those who died for what they believed.
Now I am really proud.
You ask who are you?
I answer you
I
AM THE CONFEDERATE BATTLE FLAG
LONG MAY I WAVE
